Music at Crestwood
The music program at Crestwood Christian Church is very active and is not only an integral part of each and every worship service but provides music education for all ages. The Sanctuary Choir is made up of adults willing to rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. and commit to being present for Sunday worship as often as possible. No audition is required, just come and enjoy the fellowship!
The youth choir meets on Sunday afternoons from 4:30- 5:00 P.M. and works on contemporary youth music before they go to supper and youth groups. Various times throughout the year they sing for worship and are an important part of Youth Sunday each year. Youth in grades 6-12 are invited to participate. Youth instrumentalists also rehearse together at regular intervals to provide music for worship.
Brass, woodwind, and string players form small ensembles for that purpose. They usually meet on Sundays from 4:00-4:30 p.m.
There are three children’s choirs that meet currently on Sundays at various times. The Cherub Choir is for 3 and 4 year olds and they meet from 9:35-9:55 A.M. The Celebration Choir meets for part of the 10:45 worship hour and is for kindergarten through 2nd grade and the Angel Choir meets on Sunday evenings from 6:40-7:40 P.M. after JYF groups and is for children, grades three through five. Each of these choirs sing three or four times a year and use basic vocal and Orff techniques in their musical offerings.
An adult handbell choir is also available and rehearses for special services throughout the year. They usually meet on Thursday evenings at 6:30 P.M. in the choir room.
